Hello Family, Friends, Colleagues!

Our home state of Vermont was deeply affected by the destruction of Hurricane Irene.
Thankfully, our home was safe, however other areas of Southern Vermont
were destroyed and many families in our community and the Deerfield Valley
have lost literally everything.

Along with my new business partner, Jennifer Tallini, we at Clothespins are directing
much of our energy in efforts of getting local families back on their feet through
helping distribute clothing donations and sales. Together, Jennifer and I have planned
raffles and special sales all month and are continuing indefinitely.
100% of the proceeds of these sales/raffles have been given directly to the Deerfield Valley families.
The need will go on as they face getting new mattresses, wood for heat
this winter, appliances, baby clothes, winter clothing etc.

We are reaching out to all friends, family, customers, consignors,
and friends of friends to see if they wish to help us.
Some ideas and how this works:

1) Clean out your closets, your kids clothes, last years designer labels
that you'd like to pass on, and we sell it for you in the store AND online!
- You can donate your earnings to the relief fund (Fund is maintained by
the Twice Blessed Community Thrift Shop in Wilmington, VT).
- If you do not wish to donate to the fund, you can of course, keep your
earnings.
- All new consigners receive at 40/60 split (60% goes to you or the Fund).
- Clothespins determines the resale value of each item based on market
demand (a Gucci bag is going to earn more return than a pair of pants
from Target for example :)
- You will receive an itemized excel spreadsheet of all items we consign
and any items we feel are in not sellable condition will be returned if
you wish.
- Earnings on consignments are sent out once a month to consigners - if
you are donating your earnings to the relief fund, we will email you a
revised spreadsheet showing you what items sold and how much went to the
relief fund.

2) Maybe there is one special item you own (an old designer handbag or
some costume jewelry or special shoes) you'd like to donate that we will
raffle off - 100% of raffle sales go to the same fund. We will tweet and
promote your brand like crazy! (We raffled off a brand new Men's Marker Ski
jacket last weekend!)

3) If you own a business, you can donate overstock, seconds,
or irregulars to Clothespins for resale - the sales will go to
Twice Blessed's Fund for Flood Victims - email us back for details to get it here.

4) Vermont Handmade/Artisan Items! The split on these items will be 70/30,
with 70% going to you or the fund.

All items can be arranged for pick up in the Southern Vermont, New York/Long Island area -
you may also ship your items to us via USPS Flat Rate boxes and we will
reimburse you for 1/2 the shipping cost for each box received on your
first consignment earnings.

So far we have contributed over $300 to the fund and growing. We are also
building www.clothespinsonline.com as we speak to post great new items as
they arrive.

We have several raffles planned for jewelry from Energy Muse, Moondog
Treasures, Jennifer Stock Designs and Namaste Handbags & Accessories.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or 2 for $8 and can be paid via personal check or
PayPal. Let us know if you would like a raffle ticket -

I just wanted to thank Clothespins' consignors, customers & friends that helped to make our weekend sale a success! Many generous people have stopped in and donated items for our sale, donated their consignor earnings, donated items for Twice Blessed, and bought items to benefit the flood victims. We will be running this fundraiser indefinitely as in the coming months, funds will be needed to buy new mattresses, firewood, etc. for the flood victims. We have heard that Twice Blessed is packed to the gills, so we are accepting sellable items at Clothespins. These items will have our special loveVT stickers on the tags and ALL proceeds go directly to Twice Blessed to use as needed. Vermonters helping Vermonters! ♥

Last month, we raised $89 for Belinda Newlands-Edwards, thanks to the generosity of customers & consignors who have donated items to be sold for her! Remember to look for the tags with the pink ribbons!

Dear Tracy,

Three big thank you's from me, my sister and friend for opening your shop during their brief overnight visit from CT.

We know it wasn't your usual work day, but you met us on our timing, and, in the end, I'm happy to say we made it worth your while too!

We came away with many gems, AND a good time. They had informed me, at below 4 degrees they weren't going snowshoeing.

They never thought thought they'd be shopping and finding what they needed and wanted two miles from my home in rural Vermont!

That was the second group of friends who enjoyed your shop with me.

The coats will be given to the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry to be distributed to local children & adults in need. We will be holding TWO Mother's Day Raffles! One will be to benefit Belinda, the other to benefit Whitingham Reins 4-H Club. As you can see, these baskets are stuffed with wonderful brand-name and high-end beauty products to pamper any Mom (or sister or friend)! Raffle tickets are $1.00 each. Winners will be drawn on Saturday May 8. Please stop in and purchase your tickets at the store on Fridays & Saturdays!

We have made a nice section against the wall of all the items we are selling to raise money for Belinda. There are the breast cancer awareness items: bracelets, bumper stickers, reusable shopping bags, etc. And one of my wonderful consignors, who is a 5-year breast cancer survivor, brought in a lot of very nice frames and other items to sell for Belinda. These items are not priced, they are by donation, so please give generously!

Breast Cancer Fundraiser for Local Woman!

Clothespins Consignment Boutique in Whitingham is currently selling breast cancer awareness items such as bracelets, handmade jewelry and bumper stickers on behalf of Belinda Newlands Edwards who was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. Belinda was in remission for 9 months, however recently the doctors found that it had returned and spread to her liver. Belinda grew up in Jacksonville, and moved to Illinois about 5 years ago.
All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards medical expenses, gas to get to doctor's appointments, and to help her support her 2 small children.
Anyone that would like to contribute, please stop into Clothespins and purchase any of the breast cancer awareness items or put a donation in the can on the counter. You may also leave cards for Belinda at Clothespins as well.

Maplefest was a great weekend for Clothespins!

Saturday was beautiful weather and we were happy to see old and new faces alike!

Whitingham Reins 4-H Club was able to raise about $67 for their group and Sarah Galaske won the basket raffle. Congratulations!

Clothespins is now accepting Spring and Summer items on consignment. Come on in and check out the great spring and summer items already filling the racks!

Our "Upper Deck" is now open at Clothespins! I'm really excited - it's nice to have that extra space upstairs, and believe me, it's filling up quickly! My husband did a lot of work up there, installing light fixtures, cleaning, rearranging, buying a rug, and building a nice railing. On your next visit, make sure to check it out!!

Congratulations to Clothespins -- we recently welcomed our 100th consignor!

I am now accepting winter & holiday items on consignment. This includes coats, snow pants/suits, boots, hats, mittens, scarves, and warm clothing! Also holiday decor & outfits. Please make sure these items are clean and in great condition when bringing them in!

I have had quite a few people asking me if I'm open on any other days than Saturday. For your convenience, I will be 'unofficially' open on Fridays now, from about 10am - 3pm. This is a trial run! I will try these hours for about a month, but if there is no interest or shoppers, I will keep with just the Saturday hours.

We WILL be open the Saturday after Thanksgiving for business!

We do have all our Christmas decor & clothing out now!

We are busy working on opening up a large portion of the upstairs of the barn! It's starting to look really great. You will find lots of books, household items & vintage in our upper deck!

Catching Up...

Hello to all my friends and fans! I feel so out of the loop - I haven't been updating in a while as I was taking care of 3 sick children! Everyone's healthy now, and I can get back to work!
We have some beautiful SPRING weather on this NOVEMBER day! Unfortunately, it won't last long, and we'll be trying to stay warm as the 30 & 40 degree weather hits us again. NO WORRIES!! If you're looking for some nice warm sweaters, fleece, coats, hats, snow pants, etc., we do have a nice selection, many which have been marking down by 40-50%!

I recently had one consignor bring in a large amount of beautiful clothes, sweaters and pants, many career-minded, and all in excellent, like-new condition! (Quite a few were new with tags!)

Over 200 new items (at least!) were checked in this week! This was a mix of some really great women's, junior's and kid's clothes! We have a beautiful new awning that my husband (slash carpenter!) built on the side of the store to protest customers from the rain and snow! He did a wonderful job, as always!, and it really added a nice touch to the store. I will post more pictures of the completed project soon.

Just thought I'd share a picture of the nice area I have set up on the jewelry case devoted specifically to our campaign for breast cancer awareness this month. This past Saturday, we had a steady stream of customers and consignors! I checked in lots of great fall and winter items, with brands including J. Crew, White & Warren and Old Navy (a store favorite), Jennifer & Grace and Hanna Andersson. Of note: a beautiful handknit boys sweater was brought in by one of our local library FOWL members. Absolutely gorgeous!

I also received a bag full of Christmas items, many of which would make cute stocking stuffers. Yes, I know it's early, but it will be here before you know it!

Speaking of Christmas, we had some snow flurries yesterday! Warm up to our knits: we have all styles, sizes and colors of sweater vests, cardigans, pullovers and coats! Don't forget the accessories! Pair your vest with a cozy scarf - we have lots to choose from!

I have set up a nice little area on the jewelry cabinet specifically for the breast cancer related items I am selling. The bracelets and necklaces are handmade and $3 from each item will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Another great day on Saturday! The weather was a little gray in the morning, , but the sun did pop it's shining face out to brighten the afternoon. I'd like to welcome consignor #97 who brought in some very nice clothing and household items. Also, three of the store's regulars brought in more items to consign as well. I did get in some Rossignol cross-country skis, poles, boots and bindings, pre-owned but in very good use-able condition, if anyone is interested. And if you know of anyone who is an x-country skiier, or wants to start this winter, pass the word along! These sets go for over $100 brand new, and at $65 is a steal!

I sold a few of the breast cancer bracelets on Saturday, thank you Customers, you know who you are! Let's keep it up -- last year, I raised over $100 for Susan G. Komen and I'd actually like to top that this year. The bracelets are very nicely made (by me!), and extremely affordable. At $6 a pop, you can buy one for yourself and your friends. And $3 from each will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation!

Even though it rained Saturday and the pony rides were canceled, we had a great day -- I made up free goody bags for the kids which went over big. The $1.00 grab bags were pretty popular too, so I think I may keep that up. Wanda brought over some baked goods & home-made hair scrunchies that the 4-H'ers made, along with her sap bucket for donations & they did very well, too. Met lots of new customers and generated some new consignors as well! Our live music by my friend Joe Chapman (and his friendly dog, Chester), helped to keep our spirits up even though the day was gray!

I had three separate consignors drop off some more great items to be checked in! Total, of at least 150 new items, a mix of baby boys, toddler girls (lots of warm Carter's pajamas) and womens clothing and some super cute Halloween costumes! My favorite is the Disney Eeyore costume for a 12-24 month old!

Unfortunately, I am hearing that thunderstorms are forecasted for Saturday's events. If this is the case, the pony rides will be cancelled. :(

I will make up little treat bags to hand out to the kids, instead.

The live music is still scheduled, however!

Wanda and I checked in about 50 new items on Saturday including more sweaters, fleece and pants! Brands included Dockers, Bass, Apostrophe, Liz Claiborne, J. Jill, Old Navy, Energie and Calvin Klein.

My favorite was a brand new with tags red & black buffalo plaid men's wool coat from Johnson Woolen Mills in Vermont!

It's only the start of the week and I already have over 50 girls items to be checked in, all given to me by one consignor with great taste!

To our shoppers, I offer Frequent Buyer Cards. The card is stamped with every $10 spent. A fully stamped card entitles the buyer to a 20% discount on their next purchase!

Returns & exchanges are accepted at Clothespins. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please return your item within 3 days of purchase date with the original receipt, for an exchange or full refund. "Borrowed" items are exempted from any return policy.

Clothespins offers layaway for shoppers: a deposit of 20% of the total purchase is required, subject to forfeit if the purchase is not redeemed within 10 business days.

We accept personal checks and all major credit/debit cards!
